9th Ave: Colorless Tsukuru Midnight Party

Monday, August 11, 2014 - 10:00pm

We're not saying that it's anything other than coincidence that Haruki Murakami's latest novel, Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage, is due out in August, the same month we're opening a new branch of Green Apple. It could be that this is merely a happy accident and not, say, some sort of manifestation of cosmic forces at work to ensure the success of our new endeavor. The universe, as anyone who reads Murakami knows, works in mysterious ways.

Whether cosmic forces are at play or this is just really good timing, we want to celebrate with a MIDNIGHT RELEASE PARTY at our new store on 9th Ave. in the Inner Sunset. Here's what's happening on Monday, August 11:

  • Food and beer!
  • A Murakami trivia contest written by Murakami scholar Matthew Strecher
  • Raffle for signed first editions of Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki
  • A costume party--come dressed as your favorite Murakami character (might we suggest something like this?)
  • Many more surprises!

To be eligible for the raffle and the chance to win a signed copy of the novel, preorder a copy of Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki online or in the store and attend the party on Monday, August 11 at 11pm. Preordering will also ensure that you get food and drink. Signed copies will only be awarded to customers in attendance.

Facebook RSVP suggested, but not required.

In an “other world” composed of language—it could be a fathomless Martian well, a labyrinthine hotel or forest—a narrative unfolds, and with it the experiences, memories, and dreams that constitute reality for Haruki Murakami’s characters and readers alike.
