Clement: Tony Powell

Friday, June 10, 2016 - 7:00pm

This event will be held at our Clement street location.

Please join Green Apple Books on Clement street on Friday, June 10th at 7:00 p.m. as we welcome author Tony Powell who will be reading from his book The Faery Door.

When Tony Powell and his son Rio placed a little wooden door in the hollow archway at the base of an elm tree in Golden Gate Park, they had no idea of the attention it would attract, or the chain of events it would initiate.

Drawing crowds, popping up in local news, on Good Morning America, in international news media, and inspiring other similar projects, it was obvious that many people were drawn to the little door's enchantment. Even now, three years later, people continue to leave notes for the faery folk in the three doors that Powell and Rio have placed (two in Golden Gate Park, and one in Glen Canyon Park), and Powell, who lives aboard his sailboat on the bay but checks the doors regularly, serves as interpreter for the faeries, and posts the answers from them on the website, faerydoor.net.

Now he has written and published the legend of the Faery Door, which gives the faeries' side of the story, and which although fiction, reveals the real magic and meaning of the appearance of that first little door which appeared in the park.

As always, this in store event is free and open to the public.
