Description
Education of a Stranger is a word traveler, a storied and poetic lexicon. It moves words like education, hunger, books, women and children into spaces near and far from Minnesota to Tanzania to North Carolina, transforming perceptions and assumptions. For those crossing thresholds, these words have lessons for the heart and soul whether we are entering new places or welcoming others into ours, seeking together the Beloved Community.
About the Author
For over fifty years, Shoonie Hartwig has been crossing thresholds - as a coordinator for a student exchange program between Lutheran colleges and the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, as a researcher on the island of Ukerewe, Tanzania, as a mission facilitator with Mwangaza Education for Partnership ELCT/ELCA, as a member of predominantly African American congregations, and as a writer.
