We're pleased to host Granta Magazine for a release party for their issue 117, "Horror", a compilation of new writing examining not just the horrors that go bump in the night, but those that lurk in the every day as well. The evening will feature three readings: poet D.A. Powell, whose most recent collection Chronic was nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award, Peter Orner, author of the forthcoming Love and Shame and Love, and Oscar Villalon, editor of Zyzzyva Magazine, who will read a previously unpublished short story by Roberto Bolaño. Wine will be served. Join us for this evening of wonderful writing and literary conversation on Thursday, November 3rd at 7PM. See you there!
It haunts us; it stalks us; it shapes us. It creeps into our dreams and, if we allow it, can plague our ponderings of the future. The same monsters’ that lived under our childhood beds can reappear, alive and toothsome, in our adult lives. And perhaps most frightening of all: without reason or apology, one person’s fancy is another person’s torment.
