What if history-or what we have come to know as history-has all along been written by the wrong people? What if everything we've been told is the wrong part of the story? In this groundbreaking new work, Mark Booth embarks on an enthralling intellectual tour of our world's secret histories, producing nothing short of an alternate history of the past 3,000 years.

About the Author

Mark Booth was educated at Oriel College, Oxford, where he studied philosophy and theology. He has worked in publishing for over twenty years and is currently in charge of Century, an imprint of Random House UK. The Secret History of the World is the outcome of a lifetime spent reading literature in this area, publishing many of the leading authors in the field, and hanging around antiquarian bookshops. British narrator John Lee has read audiobooks in almost every conceivable genre, from Charles Dickens to Patrick O'Brian, and from the very real life of Napoleon to the entirely imagined lives of sorcerers and swashbucklers. He has won numerous Audie Awards and AudioFile Earphones Awards, and he was named a Golden Voice by AudioFile in 2009. Lee is also an accomplished stage actor and wrote and coproduced the feature films Breathing Hard and Forfeit.
